The Most Exciting Headphones in Months, and More New Stories!

Here are some free Medium links to my favorite stories I’ve posted on the platform from the last month. If you like these stories, please consider becoming a Medium member for just five bucks! Below these, you’ll find some teases of upcoming stuff.

NEW MEDIUM CONTENT

Razer Opus Review- I hinted at this review in last month’s content digest, and I’m so excited it all came together. When Razer reached out unprompted to ask if I wanted to try these, I leapt at the chance, and I have to say…these are some of the best headphones I’ve ever tested. A true landmark audio product. They didn’t pay me to say any of these things, but the Opus is so good I’ll be a fan for years to come. I have a few headphone showdowns planned to compare the Opus to other popular audio gear and…the Opus is going to do very well.

Chex Quest HD Review- I loved Chex Quest when I was a kid. This remaster is not very good. If you’d like to read entirely too much detail about why that is, then click on through!

Dualshock 4 Back Button Attachment Review- I finally got my hands on Sony’s $30 buttons, and although they’re nice-looking, they’re not as nice to actually hold on to. The peripheral is entirely functional, but it let me down with lackluster ergonomics.

The Outer Worlds Switch Review- I’m a huge fan of this game, but the Switch version is not a great product. In fact, some of its cuts and changes are a bit baffling compared to other landmark PS4 conversions on Nintendo’s handheld. I’ve played over 40 hours of this now, but if you’re not already familiar with the game on other machines, the Switch version won’t hold much appeal.

COMING SOON

Borderlands Legendary Collection Switch Review- I’m deep into Borderlands right now, playing all three of its Switch ports and working on another story about Borderlands 3 as well. My long-in-the-works Switch review may morph into a story about The Pre Sequel because the more time I invest in replaying it, the more I realize it was criminally overlooked.

Gaming Headset Legends- A new series where I revisit classic gaming headsets, but with a new twist that’s not the usual “Is this still worth it in X year” format that’s so popular online. This will feature a mix of classic products and new stuff that people ask me if I’m still using after the review. Most headsets don’t last more than a month or two on my personal shelf, but the ones that have that are still worth talking about will show up in this series.

Saint Kotar, Personal Blogs, and more! - The developers of upcoming adventure game Saint Kotar kindly reached out to see if I’d check out their free prologue and talk about their kickstarter. I think that releasing a two hour prologue is an incredibly smart way to promote a crowdfunded computer game, and I hope it’s a model that more developers will follow. I’ll have some more-detailed thoughts about this horror adventure game up soon, and I’m trying to push myself to update this site more frequently as well instead of just posting these handy link lists and teases.
